Post-Workout Food in Vienna: 1 Amazing Spot by District (1–8)
After a good sweat session, my body kicks into full-on ‘feed me now’ mode. And when I’m traveling, I want to refuel with real food—ideally somewhere with local flair, a nice vibe, and a menu that goes beyond “just grab a banana.” So if you’re faced with the classic post-gym dilemma—Where can I find post-workout food in Vienna that’s actually good for me—and still tastes amazing? — this blog post is for you.
Below, you’ll find one solid post-workout food spot in each of Vienna’s first eight districts. Each spot serves up real meals that help you recharge—protein, good carbs, healthy fats, and flavor that doesn’t feel like a trade-off. All of these places cater to a range of diets—meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike. I eat mostly vegetarian myself, but every now and then I’ll go for the meat option if it looks worth it.
Bonus for Fit Travelers: At the end of the post, there’s a custom map showing the location of each restaurant and nearby gyms from my other post, Top 5 Gyms in Vienna with Free Trial or Cheap Day Passes. So whether you’re planning your day around a workout, a great meal, or both—I’ve got you covered.
Let’s kick things off in the heart of the city, where classic Vienna meets fresh, modern bites.
1st District: KLYO Wien Dachterrasse – Post-Workout Food in Vienna with a View
Rooftop views, breakfast until 2:30pm, and a commitment to natural ingredients—KLYO Wien Dachterrasse is one of those places that makes eating well feel effortless. Whether you’ve just finished a morning run along the Donaukanal or squeezed in a gym session before sightseeing, this spot has you covered.
Nearby Gyms: John Harris Fitness (Uniqua Tower), FitInn Schwedenplatz. Get your workout in, then walk over for a well-earned feast with a view.
Why it’s great post-workout:
Think of KLYO as your reward that still checks all the recovery boxes. You’ll find dishes that actually show you their protein count, so you know what you’re getting. It’s balanced, satisfying, and you can soak up some rooftop views while your body recharges. You can even spot Vienna’s iconic Riesenrad from up there.
If I had to pick just one place for breakfast, it would be KLYO.
What I usually go for:
- Klyo Müsli (Klyo Muesli)– Oats, Greek yogurt, almonds, apple, banana, walnuts, blueberry, honey, granola
(63,5 g protein). - Vegan Protein Pancakes – Oats, banana, pea protein, peanut butter mousse, peanuts (35,9 g protein).

Other great options:
- Das Nordische (The Nordic) – Smoked salmon, horseradish cream, chives, and crusty Öfferl bread. Protein-packed and satisfying (39,2 g protein).

Whether you want to go big at the buffet or keep it quick with a lunchbox to go, this place makes it easy to eat well. Their flavors are bold, and the dishes are packed with fresh ingredients that help you bounce back from a tough workout—no boring bites here. I especially like the lunch box. While the specific offerings change from time to time, it usually includes a mix of grains, warm dishes, and cold staples like tabbouleh, hummus, and falafel. The best part is that you can customize it completely — not only do you get to choose what goes in (allowing you to balance carbs, protein, and vegetables to your liking), but since you serve yourself, you also control the portion sizes of each item.
What I usually go for:
- Lunchbox from the Buffet
Also great:
- Falafel Sandwich Rolle (Falafel Sandwich Roll) – Homemade falafel, served in saj flatbread with tahini and fresh vegetables.
- Vitamin-Bowl mit Huhn (Chicken Vitamin Bowl) – A fresh mix of tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, bell peppers, tabbouleh, and hummus, topped with chicken shawarma or crispy chicken
