Living Active on the Go: My Story and What’s Coming
Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I was wracking my brain over what the ideal first post should be. There was only one logical conclusion (at least for me). I need to introduce myself properly and share what I hope to achieve with this blog. But for those of you who are just as busy as I am and want the quick version—here’s the gist: If you love staying active on the go or squeezing in workouts between flights, you’re not alone. Maybe you just want to live a little healthier while traveling—if so, you’re in the right place.
Unless you’re one of my dedicated friends or family members (thanks for the support!), you probably don’t know much about me yet. So, here’s a quick rundown: I’m a thirty-year-old English and Math teacher living in Vienna. When I’m not teaching or preparing lessons, I spend much of my free time focused on sports, fitness, travel, and nutrition.
Where It All Began: From Soccer Fields to Judo Mats
My sports journey began when ten-year-old me won a spot at a soccer summer camp with Heribert Weber and Michael Konsel. At this point they were already retired national players. Turns out, I was pretty decent at catching balls and throwing myself toward them (and onto the ground). That’s how my fairly successful career as a goalkeeper began. To stay injury-free, I also took Judo lessons to learn how to fall properly. That skill turned out to be pretty useful—especially since I’m also a bit of a clumsy person.

After quitting soccer, I quickly learned what happens when you stop training five times a week but keep eating like you still are. Even though I stayed somewhat active—biking, playing volleyball, swimming—I gained 9 kilos and started feeling pretty uncomfortable in my own skin (whoops). That’s when I knew something had to change. I started diving into fitness (especially strength training) and nutrition. Since then, I’ve managed to get in even better shape than during my peak soccer days.
Waves, Workouts & Wandering Feet
Traveling has always been a big hobby of mine. My first surf camp in Portugal was a game-changer—I immediately fell in love with the sport. It gave me a new passion that combined adventure, nature, and physical challenge all in one. Surfing also gave me more reasons to explore new places. After all, Vienna isn’t exactly a surfing hotspot (shocking, right?). So I started traveling even more—and farther—to chase the waves.

But here’s the thing: as much as I loved traveling, I quickly realized something. When I went on vacation and didn’t stay active, it became way harder to get back into my fitness routine once I got home. I didn’t want to be someone who let fitness slide during travel, so I started experimenting with ways to stay fit on the road. I tried quick bodyweight workouts, hunted down gyms in random places, and even used my surf sessions as a form of fitness. Over time, I learned how to make staying active while traveling a natural part of my adventures.
Why I’m Sharing My Journey (and Why You Might Like It Too)
With this blog, I’d love to share my experiences as a fit travel enthusiast. I’ll focus on travel-friendly workouts, highlight my favorite surf spots, and dive into healthy nutrition while abroad or on the go. I’ll also share my take on gear I’ve tested along the way.
Thanks for stopping by! I can’t wait to take you along on this adventure. Feel free to reach out to me on social media. Let’s connect—and lift, ride, and roll with whatever comes our way!
